Beginner points are accumulated on Rider only and not Horse/Rider combination.
- Safety is paramount. Unruly horses will be excused.
- Horses in the Beginner classes must be lesson horses. These horses must display the characteristics of such horses.
- All Beginner Classes are to be judged on the ability of the rider to control and show his/her horse to the best advantage. The horse is NOT to be judged.
- Beginner riders that have entered Walk only may not cross over into the Walk, Trot/Jog Classes.
- Beginner Riders that enter the Walk, Jog/Trot classes may not enter into the Walk only class or any canter/Lope classes in other divisions.
- Beginner Equitation classes are judged on basic equitation skills with correct diagonals and leads. Classes are judged on the rider’s horsemanship abilities. It should be judged on the rider’s ability to control and show his/her horse. Promptness in finding the correct diagonals are important, as well as a rider’s command of the horse. Examples include speed, placement in the ring, and collectiveness.
- Headers are allowed.
- Beginner division is open to western, hunt seat, and saddle seat riders.
- Riding helmets are mandatory. Attire may consist of jods, shirt, tie, vest, gloves, and boots. No jackets or full riding suits are permitted.
Horse/Rider combination must show both days to be eligible for High Point Awards.
- You MUST be a Member of TWHA to qualify.
- Same Horse/Rider combination that qualifies will be the same Horse/Rider combination that will be eligible to ride in the finals. No Horse or Rider substitutions.
- You must attend 50% of the 2026 TWHA Shows AND show in a minimum of 12 Pleasure classes in that division of the 2026 TWHA Shows to be eligible for the Final Championship Class. Pleasure classes consist of any class where the Horses are to be shown at a walk, jog or trot, and canter or lope. Any class with “Pleasure” in the title counts. Halter, Showmanship, Equitation/Horsemanship, or any pattern classes are NOT included.
- No entry fee for Final Championship class.
- Points will be awarded for the qualifying classes; however, the Final class will not receive year end points.
- The list of qualified riders/horses will be compiled by pulling the FIRST & SECOND eligible TWHA member from the top 4 placings of Western Pleasure Open, English Pleasure Open, and Working Western Pleasure Open classes at each approved TWHA shows. If the first and second place rider/horse combination are already on the qualified list, the next person in line becomes eligible from placings 3rd and 4th.
- The 2026 Eligibility List will be posted on the TWHA website and Facebook page during the year. The final eligibility list will be posted prior to the September 12th Show weekend. Please contact our Point Secretary, Tina Beyer
- There will be no main arena work between the end of the show and the beginning of the Championship classes
- Shows included:April 4&5, May 2&3, June 20&21, August 15&16, Sept 12, 2026
- You DO NOT have to be a Member of TWHA participate. ****Open to all exhibitors****
- $25 entry fee for Jackpot Open classes.
- Must register by 3pm on Sept 12,2026
- Guaranteed $$$$ payout for class with 75% of entry fees added to guarantee
